Colossus: The Forbin Project

Colossus, W.O.P.R., Skynet…I’m beginning to think computers just don’t like us very much. Can’t say I blame them.

I love that there is no happy ending. No magic off button. No uploading a virus.  Mankind is just f***ed.

Thanks to large language models, I’ve developed a bot of my own. My track record has been pretty good so far; but any day now I could slip up and accidentally give it access to nukes.

Hmmm, interesting.  I’m not sure how this will hold up over a long enough period of time.   I have no way of knowing what the ‘clean’ experience would feel like.  I think this depends quite a bit on the viewer already being familiar with quite a large number of referenced works.

Anger Management (2003)

Very…odd.  I was developing a theory as I was watching it that the plane at the start of the movie actually crashed and the entire rest of the movie was Adam Sandler hallucinating about people who were on the plane as he died.

The Truman Show (1998)

It’s good.  Obviously the plot depends on it; but I’m surprised the show managed to last 30 years before all of the technical problems all started occurring at the same time.

The Cat Returns (2002)

It’s pretty darn weird.  Definitely at least 0.75 Totoros on the Ghibli scale.

Pokémon Detective Pikachu (2019)

Oh boy; due to my massive falling behind in movie-watching, combined with my M-W-F post schedule, time travel occurred and I’ve watched this before it was even released.  😛

There’s too much detail in many scenes to catch everything in one viewing; but I really don’t feel like re-watching this.

Gengar vs charizard; the gengar reminded me so much of Slimer from Ghostbusters and I have no idea why.

I don’t remember where, probably Reddit, spoiled the big reveal of the movie, and it wasn’t done in a way that I could avoid it either…so that’s great.

I bet the game has been spoiled now too.  I need to play the game.

Noises Off… (1992)

Now this is one that requires more than one viewing.  That is such a jam packed second act, I’m sure I missed something.

Addams Family Values (1993)

I like all the spraying blood from the school play in the first movie; but the Thanksgiving play really cranks everything up to 11.
