Frozen (2013)

Frozen (2013)

Aurora Borealis? At this time of year? At this time of day? In this…

I’m a bit disappointed.  I was fully expecting this to be extremely overrated; but I actually think it’s only moderately overrated.

How about that?  It turns out there are actually songs in this that aren’t Let It Go!

I am pleased on a technical level.  The snow physics and simulation are cool.

The Muppets (2011)

The Muppets (2011)

So I’m not the only one who noticed this.  Actually, it’s also kind of like UHF, except this didn’t happen.  Also starts out kind of like Blues Brothers getting the band back together.

The songs are pretty good in this, although I still like Movin’ Right Along more.  And now I have to go off-topic again.  I’ve wondered for a long time why the Studebaker was chosen to be the car used in the original movie.  Was it the car with the funniest name?  Was it the funniest looking car?  Was it the cheapest car they could find?  Was it the easiest car for the Muppets to “drive”?

Brother Bear 2 (2006)

Brother Bear 2 (2006)

Extremely obvious, predictable ending.  I knew exactly who was going to transform into what before the five minute mark.

The chase, fight, Kenai’s fall, and…crap I’ve forgotten her name already…well, when she ran up to him…I was getting Beauty and the Beast flashbacks from that whole sequence.  Although, Instead of Kenai dying and coming back to life while transforming back into a human, this was more like Shrek, with Fiona becoming an ogre.

Starting to get tired of these, “you have to marry this person!” “but I love this other person!” plots.  Mulan 2, Alpha and Omega, and now this.

Brother Bear (2003)

Brother Bear (2003)

Aurora Borealis? At this time of year? At this time of day? In this…actually there should be Aurora Borealis here.

Eventually no one watching this for the first time are going to know who Bob and Doug Mckenzie were.  That was a nice nod to their beer without actually mentioning beer.

Strange Brew was actually one of those movies I remembered from my childhood; but I had no idea what the name of it was, and I was very happy when I discovered it again.

I should say more about Brother Bear, shouldn’t I? … but nothing really stands out enough for me to mention.
