This movie is certainly…something. It’s as confused about its own identity as its main character.
What world is this film trying to portray? Is it actually supposed to be in-universe? It’s strange for the actual, real-world, Oz books to exist here if it is trying to fan-fiction off of the actual canon. On the other hand, Oz infinitely recursing by existing within itself has got to be one of the most “Oz” things I can imagine.
If the girl really isn’t Dorothy, then perhaps ALL of the scenes in the movie of Tin Man and Scarecrow’s journey aren’t real, and are just her imagining what their journey would be like if they came to see her.
I have to assume the Lion was written out as quickly as possible so they wouldn’t have to keep paying for the makeup.
