They really owe a lot to the Muppets for the “we’ve got to put on this show to save the theater!” plot.
Beauty and the Beast (2017)
I have to wonder what it’s like to experience this one fresh. It felt weird whenever one of the new songs started playing. I wonder if anyone who saw this before they saw the original would be able to tell which songs were new and which were old?
I think they should have tried a bit harder; there were several places where the auto-tune was far too noticeable.
Beauty and the Beast (2014)
Maybe the subtlety got lost in translation during the dub to English; but it really doesn’t seem like the beast gives Belle very much of a reason to love him at all. The entire movie is her going, “I hate you! I hate you! I hate you! OK I love you now.” the end. If he actually was gradually winning her over, I missed it.
The Book of Life (2014)
Except for not being like Grim Fandango at all; it was exactly like Grim Fandango.
Long Way North (2015)
I found the DVD at Dollar Tree. It’s competently made; it’s just not very interesting. Even with 20% faster playback speed it still felt like it was an hour longer than it actually was.
A Monster Calls (2016)
A Monster Calls (2016)
Qui-Gon Jinn is Groot…or something.
This movie is quite a downer.
Up (2009)
…and each balloon has an even tinier house inside of it being lifted up by even tinier balloons, and each of those balloons has an even tinier house inside of it being lifted up by even tinier balloons, and each of those balloons…
Paddington 2 (2017)
Alternate ending idea. The entire Brown family is reunited in prison for stealing a forking steam-train.
I absolutely hate false accusations or wrongful imprisonment in stories. There are so many Paddington stories to draw from; I really wish they had come up with something less frustrating to watch.
A real showstopping cameo from Richard Ayoade; not because it was amazing, I literally paused for a moment because I wasn’t expect to see him.
Paddington (2014)
It’s been too many years since I’ve read the books to say whether or not this is accurate to the books.
At least all the details that I do remember seem to be there.
Alright, all of this other stuff definitely didn’t happen in the books though.
Zambezia (2012)
Add this to the list of movies where Samuel L. Jackson does not drop an F-bomb.
I still don’t know how movies like this get so many big names.
The soda is less flat this time; actually, the film could have just used a bit more polish.
