Scooby-Doo Meets the Boo Brothers (1987)

Scooby-Doo Meets the Boo Brothers (1987)

I’ve always like this. The creepy old mansion, the treasure hunt, the secret passageways.

I’ve never been a Scrappy-Doo hater; but then again, this for the most part was my only exposure to him.  Maybe I would be if I had grown up on the original Scooby-Doo Where Are You first and then transitioned into Scrappy-Doo.

The background music for this is quite odd, though I don’t really have any other old-school Scrappy-Doo fresh in my head right now so I can’t say if the soundtracks were always that…eclectic?

When I a “young’n” and saw the dancing pants for the first time I thought it was the funniest thing ever.

OK, so everybody has little people inside their heads.

Do the little people inside everyone’s heads have little people inside their heads?

Do the little people inside the little people’s heads have little people inside their heads?

Do the little people inside the little people’s heads inside the little people’s heads have little people inside their heads?

Is it turtles all the way down?

Shrek the Third (2007)

Shrek the Third (2007)

It’s OK; but the plot doesn’t feel like it resolved very smoothly.  It’s like the writers got to the big showdown at the theater and went, “OH CRAP WE ONLY HAVE FIVE MINUTES LEFT!”

Merlin showed up and my reaction was, “oh hey, it’s Eric Idle!”  Really appropriate for him to be a wizard again as he also voiced Rincewind in the Discworld games.  And actually, I’m not the only one to have noticed this, Merlin even looks quite similar to Terry Pratchett.

Chicken Little (2005)

Chicken Little (2005)

The time period that this was made is kind of being weird for me.

Mayor Turkey Lurkey talks and I think, “oh, they got a Don Knotts sound-alike”, except he was still alive then; that’s actually Don Knotts.

Time-out during dodge-ball and they all whip out flip-phones; well, yeah, they would have in 2005.

I was not expecting to hear Patrick Stewart.

OK, that may be an ancient trope but it’s worth repeating.  Pulling the fire alarm does not set off the sprinklers.  Heat is what sets them off, a small glass tube explodes when the liquid inside reaches a certain temperature.

Spice Girls karaoke??  That was five years out of date, even back then.

Now it’s some kind of weird sci-fi??

So many more names that I like; let’s just end with this.  I kind of wish I could watch a full version of the movie at the end of the movie with Adam West.

Rock Dog (2016)

Rock Dog (2016)

Hmm, like in Hop (2011), you have the son who doesn’t want to carry on the family business, and instead runs off to the city to become a rock star, stuff happens, and then he finally returns home to save the day just in the nick of time.

During the Shred-off…electric guitars kind of need to be plugged into the amp to work.  Also, main characters acoustic instrument suddenly magically having an electric sound.
