Aurora Borealis? At this time of year? At this time of day? In this…actually there should be Aurora Borealis here.

Eventually no one watching this for the first time are going to know who Bob and Doug Mckenzie were.  That was a nice nod to their beer without actually mentioning beer.

Strange Brew was actually one of those movies I remembered from my childhood; but I had no idea what the name of it was, and I was very happy when I discovered it again.

I should say more about Brother Bear, shouldn’t I? … but nothing really stands out enough for me to mention.

It was much easier to enjoy this one as there wasn’t a heap of broken backstory distracting me the whole time; but good grief, this should just be called “Fan Service: The Movie”

Baxter Stockman, Bebop, Rocksteady, Krang, The Technodrome, Casey Jones…oh, and the theme song.  Ah, but Baxter Stockman didn’t turn into the fly yet; so at least they’re saving something for a third one.

Third one needs to remake Pizza Power for the credits.

“How did you get my number?” while a Skype logo is visible on the screen…I don’t really think Skype works that way.

Oh, I wasn’t expecting Whoopi Goldberg.

OK, that’s a bit BS.  April’s father being professor scientist man, who is responsible for everything, is basically just like in that other Spider-Man movie where Peter Parker’s father is professor scientist man.

Eric Sacks feels like a Willem Defoe character.

I really like how Splinter was portrayed here.

So unlike with Spider-Man, I have significantly more experience with TMNT to know whenever they are “screwing up” the lore; but none of the previous material has ever been consistent with each other in the first place, so I don’t object to changes that aren’t stupid; but there are more than a few changes here that are stupid.

Rating: 6 cheese pizza out of 10 cheese pizza.

I’ve always like this. The creepy old mansion, the treasure hunt, the secret passageways.

I’ve never been a Scrappy-Doo hater; but then again, this for the most part was my only exposure to him.  Maybe I would be if I had grown up on the original Scooby-Doo Where Are You first and then transitioned into Scrappy-Doo.

The background music for this is quite odd, though I don’t really have any other old-school Scrappy-Doo fresh in my head right now so I can’t say if the soundtracks were always that…eclectic?

When I a “young’n” and saw the dancing pants for the first time I thought it was the funniest thing ever.

Shrek the Third (2007)

It’s OK; but the plot doesn’t feel like it resolved very smoothly.  It’s like the writers got to the big showdown at the theater and went, “OH CRAP WE ONLY HAVE FIVE MINUTES LEFT!”

Merlin showed up and my reaction was, “oh hey, it’s Eric Idle!”  Really appropriate for him to be a wizard again as he also voiced Rincewind in the Discworld games.  And actually, I’m not the only one to have noticed this, Merlin even looks quite similar to Terry Pratchett.
